Meeting a new Quad batch

Missed my Friday class because I had travelled to Delhi, and so attended the Sat morning 0700-0800 class.

This was fun too. New folks to meet, but same profile and similar attitudes. Except that it was bright enough to see the faces :-). At 5:00 am, the eyes are automatically shutting, the light is low (or very bright if you are staring into the floodlight) and we just trundle into class and rush off after to start our daily chores. We still have fun in between, but the 0700-0800 batch offers the pre-class waiting banter and the post session slow wrap-up (since there is no class after that). Good to meet the ‘new’ guys.

We had an interesting workout as well – 3 in a team (Sam, Shwetha and I) doing:

  • Farmers walk (just walk with 2 kettlebells from point A to point B)
  • Burpees – but skipped the push-up and just held the plank to get back to squat
  • Bear crawl – hmm.. You know.. you crawl like a bear. My teammate Shwetha lost a bit of skin off her palms (yup – both palms) crawling a bit too fast on that ground. Ouch.

That was it. 6 mins of each, alternating with your partner and resting while he/she works out.

Seemed easy then actually and had I written this post on Sat, I might have classified this ‘easy’, but the shoulder soreness started only on Sunday, and has spilled over to Monday as I type this. Hmmm.. Farmers aren’t having it that easy I guess.

:-). The farmers walk is simple ma – just grab some heavy weights and walk from pt A to pt B. No idea why it is called farmers walk. Perhaps, because they have do just that – carry and walk with heavy weights.
