Aug 15, 2010 – Sunday: AU Classic Plus – my best half time

Lots of new runners at AU this morning. Started off with Yash, but pulled ahead after 3 kms or so, and from then it was solo. Turned around at Velankani church and finished a half. Tried to do an all-run, but ended up walking about 5-6 times. Was totally tired at the end of the run. Couldn’t have done another 500 mts more.

Final stats: 21.1k in 2:12.

This is probably my limit on the half. That’s my best time on the half – I paced myself reasonably well today and gave it my best shot. That time is what I came up with.

An incident that stood out after the run: Ram, Yash and I were walking to the canteen when the NCC parade and flag hoisting happened inside the campus, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem. It was fantastic how the whole place froze in attention. The 3 of us stood in attention immediately and followed the anthem. A cyclist braked and got off his bike. 3 people on a scooter stopped and got off and stood in attention – all of this in various points in the campus, at various points of motion. Super moment – anyone who heard it, just stopped and stood in attention.

That is an awesome incident 🙂
    Love it.

2:12 is brilliant – but I am sure your best is only going to keep getting better 🙂
