July 25, 2010 – Sunday: A slow but nice Classic

A lot of people this morning, and most of them were not the usual ones. So, it was a different crowd today, but it was good to see that many.

Originally, I wanted to run a little fast (read: tag along with Senthil and Ramesh), but succumbed to the devil and joined the slower group – this had Yash, Shankar and 4 others whose names I was not sure of. We were running at 8 or 8.5 k/h. Very slow.

But, somewhere in the Boatclub loop, Niranjan and I peeled off at a slightly higher pace (9 to 9.5k/h) – we kept that pace up right through the reminder of the run. It was totally consistent and resisted the urge to either step it up or turn it down. Never took a break as well – so, this is probably one of the longest runs without a single break. Finished reasonably strong having done 15.8 kms in 1:41, avg speed of 9.4 kmph.

I think this, 9.4 kmph is the speed which I am most comfortable with – cardio, muscles, rhythm, posture – all things taken, it seemed more natural for me at this speed.

We spoke a lot about facebook and how to use that effectively for Chennai Runners. A few good ideas, but need to implement them.

It is Shankar’s birthday today and so celebrated that with some Kaju katli and my favorite thataes! :-). It was nice of him to bring all of that to the run. Thanks a ton buddy and hope you have a good birthday!

I couldn’t stay for the breakfast treat at Sangeetha (Jimbles called with a bum ache! and asked me to come home now), but great gesture from Shankar. He also started on his Day 1 of his 10×10. Yash finished his 8th day today with this Classic.
