Apr 28, 2010 – Wednesday: Lovely Gandhi Vanakkam run with Bharani, Shankar and Ananth

Fantastic run this morning.

Started off with Shankar and Bharani and all 3 ran together till Nilgiri’s when I Bharani and I upped the pace just a little bit and ran together till Marina beach. Shankar, probably being careful with his Vancouver marathon coming up this Sunday (unfortunately, that is not to happen since his visa got cancelled – news came in just a few minutes back), continued to run slowly, but joined us at the beach where we took a break for ~2 minutes, turned around and started back.

Again, it was Bharani and I heading back and this part (~4.5 kms) from the beach back to Dimensions was, to me, the best part of the run. Nice pace, steady and reasonably consistent right through the run with both of us almost feeding off each other.

Finished strong too.

This is what Bharani had to say about the run in Dailymile:

On the return, Shankar slowed down and Karthik kept going. I was out of breath after 5.5 K and was literally following the water bottle in Karthik’s fuel belt. That kept me going and over coming the thoughts of dropping out or taking shortcuts. The last 4 km can be credited to Karthik’s account. 🙂

This is what I had to say for the same run, also on Dailymile:

I have a slightly different version compared to Bharani – because I thought he pushed me and not the other way. I kept running listening to his beat and he had a great rhythm! :-). But – maybe that’s exactly what running with great company is all about.

Echo that again: That is what running with company is all about.

In all 9.3k in 57 minutes, at an average speed of 9.8 kmph, average pace of 6.07.
