Apr 18, 2010 – Sunday: Great run with Divs and Dwa

This was the just 2nd time I was running Divs and Dwa. Last time was way back in June sometime, I think, at Austin.

Started off on a 4:1, which I coerced those 2 into and after ~10 mins of running on the roads, we got into a beautiful asphalt trail. It was truly a fantastic place to run so close to home. I am most definitely envious of the runners out here.

Not only is the trail so great to run on, there is a clear etiquette that is followed (which I obviously violated a few times), mile markers, directions and even a water fountain!

Nice. 🙂

Switched to a 3:1 at around the 6k mark. Dwa and I got unnecessarily ribbed by Divs while we appreciated the flexibility and running form of a female running colleague. :-). Oh, btw, I was just reading today (in the 50/50 Dean Karnazes book) that there is a runner who goes to Boston each year, primarily motivated by the ‘free kisses’ offered by the Wellesley girls! I validated that point – http://www.wellesley.edu/PublicAffairs/Releases/2009/040909.html.

Dean ends that chapter by saying “when it comes to motivation, get it wherever you can” :-).

Towards the end, thought it would be a good idea to uncoil a little bit of Dwarak’s pent up springs and so we quickened up and ran the last ~1k or something real fast. Even then, I thought I was going as fast as I could, when at the sight of an approaching dog, Dwarak said that he was going to run ahead to step aside and just took off. Hmmm.. 😐 and he says he hasn’t been running at all!

Anyway – http://connect.garmin.com/activity/30461744 – 12.1 kms, in 1:21 at an average speed of 9 kmph made for a really nice run in the morning.

But the best part of the whole thing was running with Divs and Dwa. Would love to do this anyday, everyday. 😀

[p.s. There was a great hike later in the day, but am not putting that down here as a fitness activity – that was pure fun.]

Just the fact that “appreciating the flexibility” reminded you of the “Wellesley girls” proves it all – you guys were certainly appreciating except “what” is the question here. :-p
