Mar 9, 2010 – Tuesday: Hill training and good tips from Yash

Got up early this morning and warmed up well with yoga. Just that makes me feel a lot better going out.

I was the first at Dimensions but Yash joined soon and we had a good limbering session. That again gives a good feeling. I am getting more and more convinced that the quality of the runs depend heavily on the quality of the warm-up. Ok, that sounds like a very obvious thing, but to be honest, I hadn’t imagined that the dependency would be this high.

Anyway, all that build up was because I really enjoyed the run this morning. It was Yash, Shankar, Ananth (newbie) and me.

We did the famous Madras hills: Down CP Ramasamy road, up and down the curvy flyover, through Kasturi Rangan road, up and down the Cathedral road Flyover, turn around at Nilgiris and get back.

Once we are down the CP Ramasamy road flyover on the return, we do up and down repetitions of that small 150 mt flyover patch. We did 8 patches, and I got walloped by both Shankar and Yash – who were sprinting uphill as if it was downhill – but, it was still good.

Got back to Dimensions and had a good stretch session with Yash as well.

Overall, very good.
